Bits and pieces from before you left. Get them together first — chasing them from another timezone is the hard part.
- Who you worked for in New Zealand
- Every employer, even short jobs — each one gets its own letter in your pack
- Roughly when you worked and when you left
- Month and year for each. Your claimable tax years are worked out from these
- Your KiwiSaver provider
- The company on your annual statement, and your member number if you have it
- Your IRD number, and whether your NZ bank account is still open
- A closed account is not a dead end, but it changes how the money reaches you
On a phone? Write the numbers down, or have the document next to you on paper. Swapping between tabs while holding a figure in your head is where people lose their place.
